The contrast between old and new gives the photograph its character. Sleek glass towers catch the light across the skyline, while the Empire State Building remains quietly recognizable beyond. Dark river pilings and softened water create depth and structure, leading the eye toward Manhattan. This image was taken before the pilings were removed from Lincoln Harbor.

Rendered in black and white, the scene becomes less about the familiar skyline and more about architecture, light, form, and the changing face of New York City.
