This photograph captures the cathedral’s central nave, where massive stone columns rise into graceful ribbed vaults overhead. At the far end, a delicate rose window glows with natural light, illuminating the long central aisle and creating a sense of symmetry, scale, and stillness. More than six centuries after its construction began, the space remains a remarkable example of Portuguese Gothic architecture.
